MIRAI (未來)
(Manufacturing Institute for Research on Advanced Initiatives)
Pan-Pacific Manufacturing Research Institute

MIRAI will provide wide range of educational programs and tools to assist manufacturing engineers in academic and research institutions and industry for their best practice in their field and to attract good students into manufacturing. Programs and tools in preparation are
  1. online lecture series on various manufacturing issues
  2. interactive online tools
  3. expert lecture seminars
  4. MIRAI archives
  5. exchange programs
  6. engineer seeding programs

Online lectures: MIRAI will provide online (video streaming) lectures on various manufacturing subjects from distinguished experts.

Online tools: MIRAI will provide interactive online tools developed by MIRAI members.

Expert seminars: Along with online lectures, our members will provide seminars or short courses on various manufacturing subjects.

MIRAI archives: MIRAI will provide online library with MIRAI publications, lectures, etc.

Exchange program: MIRAI members have unique expertise and state of art facilities on their own field in manufacturing. However, recent manufacturing problems requires broad range of expertise. In order to first, maximize the strength of members, MIRAI members agree to share resources and exchange students, engineers, and researchers among collaborating members including industry.

Engineer seeding program: Technology in manufacturing evolves  in  slow pace and fast pace. Most of processing technologies in conventional manufacturing  has been slowly improved over decades, requiring fundamental understanding of process, accumulation of vast database, etc. On the other hand, emerging processing technologies evolves very fast with development of new technology. Manufacturing engineers in industry require to learn new technologies quickly as well as improvements on their own technologies. MIRAI will provide an opportunity to educate industrial engineers at academic and research institutions and to expose students and researchers to real practice at industries. Even though MIRAI members are from Pan-Pacific countries, MIRAI will provide the same opportunities to engineers in developing and under-developed.countries in order to promote state of the art manufacturing practices in those countries. This program will be pursued under partnership with U.N. and World Bank.
